Zinc Stearate

Description

Homogeneous powder, slightly oily to the touch, from white to yellowish white.

Zinc stearate repels water. The powder of zinc stearate is not soluble in alcohol, ether and other polar solvents. However, in the heated form it can dissolve in benzene, chlorinated carbohydrates and other aromatic carbons.

It is the most effective lubricant for molds. It has hydrophobic effect and does not contain electrolytes.

Application

It is used as a vulcanization activator and a plasticizer of rubbers. Very often it is used in the manufacture of transparent rubbers. It is also used for the plasticisation of rubber compounds. Used as a powder to remove the sticking of rubber compounds and various rubber products. Used as an anti-blocking lubricant in the manufacture of rubbers. The dosage of zinc stearate when used as a vulcanization activator and a plasticizer of rubbers is 2 - 5% by weight.

Zinc stearate is used as a lubricant for the processing of casting plastics. It is a thermal stabilizer and light stabilizer of PVC products, very often used together with calcium, lead, barium, cadmium stearates. Part when used in plastic compositions is 1%.

In the manufacture of press powders zinc stearate is used as a lubricant, which prevents the adhesion of press materials to rolls, screws during manufacturing and to forms when processed into this article. This thick grease is used in ester impregnations for sheet molding materials, glass-filled premixes.

In the perfume industry, zinc stearate is used in cosmetic powder products, and powder is sometimes used as a hydrophobizing component. In powdered powders, the adhesion and cover of these powders improves. In construction, it is used as a hydrophobic addition for dry stucco mixes.
